overview

Ricordea corals come in two main types,  Ricordea yuma and Ricordea florida commonly called Yuma and Ricordea respectively.

They both display a wide variety of colors and patterns and have a passing resemblance to Mushroom corals, but the surface of the coral is covered with short rounded tentacles. The Yuma version tends to be more rare and sought after, but also can be more delicate than the more common Ricordea version.

Both versions prefer more moderate lighting.  It is generally best to error on the low side when introducing new corals to the tank. They appreciate moderate water flow.

They are semi-aggressive and require adequate space between themselves and other corals and sessile invertebrates.

They are photosynthetic and do not require target feeding, but they will readily consume small meaty foods such as small mysis shrimp and will benefit from an occasional feeding.

Photo Notes We want you to be happy with the coral that you receive and we take pride in the corals that we offer.  To provide true representation of the color and health for our WYSIWYG corals, they are photographed and white balanced under the ReefCorner LED lighting at approximately a 10K to 14K white point to best show the actual color of the coral. The coloration may vary when viewed under different lighting.  The grid the coral is typically photographed on is approximately 0.6" per square to give you a size reference.
Naming Notes We identify the scientific name when we are able to with some degree of accuracy. You will notice that we don’t give our corals cool names like “AWESOME ULTRA SUPER METALLIC NEON RED AND SCREAMING LIME GREEN ULTRA ULTRA COLORED AUSSIE” unless it is a name in common usage in the hobby that helps to identify the coral. We let our pictures do the talking and you can be the judge of whether our corals are awesome or not.
