Chalice corals come in almost unlimited colors and usually show a mix of several colors, often with contrasting colored eyes.

Chalice corals like lower light levels.  They can sometimes adapt to higher light levels, but this should be done carefully and overtime while watching their response.  LED lighting in particular can stress Chalice corals if it is very intense. Chalice corals at RC are kept under LED lighting at 25-75 PAR which is fairly weak light.  They also do best with a higher kelvin (bluer) light.

Chalice corals like fairly low water flow and should be kept out of any strong direct water currents.

They do not require feeding, but will take small meaty foods that are fed at night when their sweeper tentacles are out.  Feeding will accelerate growth.

As is the case with all stony corals, attention needs to be paid to maintaining proper Calcium and Alkalinity levels in the reef tank for proper skeletal development as noted on the right.

Photo Notes We want you to be happy with the coral that you receive and we take pride in the corals that we offer.  To provide true representation of the color and health for our WYSIWYG corals, they are photographed and white balanced under the ReefCorner LED lighting at approximately a 10K to 14K white point to best show the actual color of the coral. The coloration may vary when viewed under different lighting.  The grid the coral is typically photographed on is approximately 0.6" per square to give you a size reference.
Naming Notes We identify the scientific name when we are able to with some degree of accuracy. You will notice that we don’t give our corals cool names like “AWESOME ULTRA SUPER METALLIC NEON RED AND SCREAMING LIME GREEN ULTRA ULTRA COLORED AUSSIE” unless it is a name in common usage in the hobby that helps to identify the coral. We let our pictures do the talking and you can be the judge of whether our corals are awesome or not.
