|Category: LPS (Large Polyp Stony)
Common Name: Pink cyphastrea
Scientific Name: Cyphastrea decadia
Specimen Size: Large frag approximately 1.25″ fully encrusted over plug
Origination: RC aquacultured frag.
Entry Updated: 6/12/2017
Cyphastrea corals have a plating or branching growth form and under the right conditions can grow fairly fast. The plating type may be so thin that the substrate can still be seen through the coral.
There are many color variations of this coral including yellow, orange, pink, blue, teal and blue often with contrasting colored polyps.
They like low to moderate light and moderate water flow.
Polyps are very small, but will take very small foods typically offered to filter feeders.
As is the case with all stony corals, attention needs to be paid to maintaining proper Calcium and Alkalinity levels in the reef tank for proper skeletal development as noted on the right.

||We want you to be happy with the coral that you receive and we take pride in the corals that we offer. To provide true representation of the color and health for our WYSIWYG corals, they are photographed and white balanced under the ReefCorner LED lighting at approximately a 10K to 14K white point to best show the actual color of the coral. The coloration may vary when viewed under different lighting. The grid the coral is typically photographed on is approximately 0.6" per square to give you a size reference.
||We identify the scientific name when we are able to with some degree of accuracy. You will notice that we don’t give our corals cool names like “AWESOME ULTRA SUPER METALLIC NEON RED AND SCREAMING LIME GREEN ULTRA ULTRA COLORED AUSSIE” unless it is a name in common usage in the hobby that helps to identify the coral. We let our pictures do the talking and you can be the judge of whether our corals are awesome or not.
